Vertebral Tethering has recently gained conditional approval from the FDA as a humanitarian device exemption and has been gaining popularity and interest as evidenced by increasing numbers of presentation at national and international meetings. However, the evidence supporting its use is sparse and the indications for use are varied among practitioners. We will examine the ethics and art of approaching the adoption of this new technology. We will educate surgeons on how to go about learning this new technique and how to begin using it in a safe and thoughtful manner.
